Job Description


Candidate will be responsible for:
  • Helping to develop technical scope and specification documents.
  • Working closely with the client.
  • Ensuring that projects are being delivered in a timely manner.
  • Overseeing the offshore development teams assigned to multiple software development projects.
  • Tracking and reporting results.
Some specific tasks include:
  • Help develop and manage project schedules.
  • Help define project requirements.
  • Day-to-day client and project oversight.
  • Provide client with daily or weekly status reports as needed.
  • Adhere to company process.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
  • Web design and development (HTML, JavaScript, .Net, PHP, Java, etc.) with database experience (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, etc.) is a must.
  • Experience across the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is preferred.
  • Desire to learn and grow in a new position is a strong plus.
  • Strong communication skills (both spoken and written).
  • eCommerce experience is a plus.
  • Graphic Design experience is a plus.
  • Detail oriented and results driven.
  • Preferably a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree.

Project Manager - Database Reporting

Job Description

Candidate will be responsible for the overall supervision of custom database development and reporting projects from scoping to deployment. The candidate will work closely with the sales staff and with the offshore development teams assigned to specific engagements.

The successful candidate will translate business requirements into optimized reporting data and help to deploy business intelligence technology using best practices/standards and processes. In this position, the candidate may also be required to develop detailed technical scope and specification documents for customer engagements, and assist in the development of proposals. The candidate may be required to work at the client site for short periods to gather business requirements and to develop sample BI reports.

Candidate will also work closely with the client to ensure that projects are being delivered on deadline, on budget and to the complete satisfaction of the clients. Candidate will track and manage their projects so that they meet or beat customer expectations.

This position may be located in the Louisville, KY or the Nashville, TN office.

Some specific tasks include:
  • Work with Business Users to understand business processes and reporting and dashboard needs.
  • Transform business requirements into data models and reporting structures.
  • Lead/facilitate meetings and conduct presentations for both technical and non-technical clients including senior-level management staff. Communicate and translate complex technical concepts and proposals into understandable and justifiable business initiatives.
  • Communicate with, direct and guide off shore teams day-by-day to deliver on time and within budget.
  • Provide client and internal management with status reports as needed.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
  • Understanding of business intelligence systems (Cognos, Oracle, etc.) and concepts and the ability to communicate these to less technical clients as well as technically skilled project development staff.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehouse and data mart constructs and dimensional modeling best practices.
  • Experience with RDBMS, data warehousing and BI reporting tools such as Cognos Report Studio and Framework Manager Meta Modeling.
  • Experience in a .Net development environment is a plus. Report authoring skills (Crystal Reports, MS Reporting Services, etc.) is also a plus.
  • Experience in the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (email, IM and verbal). Ability to communicate with nationwide clients and overseas team members, making sure that information is clearly understood by all parties.
  • Self starter with a strong desire to stretch yourself, work hard and do "whatever it takes" to get the project done.
  • Experience working with or supervising an offshore team is a strong plus.
  • 2 or more years of Project Management experience is a plus.

Sr. BI Architect (Cognos)


Desired Profile:

Senior Cognos Architect to lead BI projects and design and develop end-to-end data warehouse and Cognos Solutions. The Cognos 8 Architect will be responsible for the design of relational data models, metadata models, reporting, multidimensional cubes, and metrics using the Cognos 8 Business Intelligence suite of tools.

  • Must have strong ability to translate business needs into data requirements
  • Knows how to design complex reports and dashboards. Will hand off design to a senior-level Cognos report writer to develop
  • Must have design and development experience using Cognos 8 Framework Manager to implement meta data models to deliver query and report results quickly and accurately
  • Must have experience in designing security models for user groups and roles within Cognos 8
  • Must have experience designing and implementing folder strategies within the Cognos 8 portal, reporting, and query environments
  • Must have deep development experience in Cognos 8 Report Studio, Framework Manager and PowerPlay Transformer

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the complete range of Business Intelligence capabilities which include reporting, analysis, scorecarding, dashboards and business event management. Provides an overall reporting solution foundation for the development, implementation and operation for data reporting, modeling, and data warehouse analysis. This includes tuning and optimizing SQL.
  • Collaborates and conducts requirements meetings with business owners and end-users utilizing quantitative, analytical and business skills in an effort to understand crucial data needs.
  • Determines appropriate technologies and architecture for each BI Project.
  • Designs star schema database models to ensure data quality, performance and ability to meet business-reporting requirements.
  • Develops and implements Cognos 8 Business Intelligence (BI) application architecture, security plans and processes.
  • Develops and maintains Framework Manager Models and applies proper securities and publishing packages.
  • Develops test plans and test applications. Documents requirements, resolves conflicts, and gathers consensus.
  • Coordinates training, support and best practices for Adhoc Query users and Report Authors and conducts in-house training and mentoring to the reporting team on writing reports using Cognos BI 8, interpreting user requests, documenting system requirements, data modeling and data analysis.

Sr. Project Manager (.NET):


Primary skills:
  • 8+ years of software development experience of which at least 3+ years of experience on Microsoft .Net solutions.
  • At least 3+ years of current project management experience and should have managed multiple projects with team sizes of at least 10.
  • Excellent understanding of current technologies such as ASP.net, C#, VB.Net, XML & SQL Server2005 in order to plan and communicate effectively with project team and sponsors.
